Terms of Service
Last updated August 25, 2026
By creating an account or using Friendly, you agree to these terms. If something here doesn't work for you, please don't use Friendly, and feel free to reach out at Contact@friendlyapp.com instead.
What Friendly is
Friendly is a voice-first journaling companion. You talk about your day, and Friendly turns that conversation into a written journal entry for you.
Friendly is not a therapist, counselor, coach, or medical provider, and nothing it says is professional advice of any kind. It's built to listen and help you write, not to diagnose, treat, or advise. If you're going through something serious, please talk to a real person — a professional, or someone in your life.
Your account
You need an account to use Friendly. You agree to:
- Provide an accurate email address
- Keep your password confidential, and let us know if you think someone else has access to your account
- Be at least 16 years old
You're responsible for what happens under your account. If you signed in with Google, this section applies the same way, just without a Friendly-specific password to protect.
Your content
What you say to Friendly, and the journal entries that come out of it, are yours. We don't claim ownership over them.
To make the product work, you give us permission to process your conversations and entries — sending them to the outside services described in our Privacy Policy so they can be transcribed, drafted, and stored — but only for that purpose. We don't use your journal entries to train any models of our own, because we don't have any.
Acceptable use
Please don't use Friendly to:
- Break the law, or harm or harass anyone else
- Try to access another person's account or data
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or reverse-engineer the service
- Use it in a way that isn't personal journaling — Friendly isn't built or licensed for commercial or clinical use
We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
Plans and payment
Friendly currently offers a free plan. A paid plan is planned but not active yet — no payment is currently being collected from anyone. When paid plans launch, these terms will be updated first, and pricing will be shown clearly before you're asked to pay for anything.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. This is immediate and permanent — your account and every journal entry tied to it are deleted and can't be recovered afterward.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, though we'll try to reach out first except in serious cases.
No warranty
Friendly is provided "as is." AI-generated journal entries may not always be accurate or capture things exactly the way you'd write them yourself. We don't guarantee the service will always be available or error-free — it's a small, actively-developed project.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Friendly and its operator aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Nothing here limits liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Friendly after a change means you accept the updated terms.
